Four home runs propelled top-ranked Florida State to a 10-3 win over Maryland on Saturday afternoon as temperatures rose above 90 degrees on the surface of Dick Howser Stadium.
Devon Travis and James Ramsey delivered back-to-back blasts in the bottom of the first, and the Seminoles cruised from there.
“It is just a big-time jump start when you go back-to-back,” said head coach Mike Martin. “It has a tendency to lift you. That’s what it did for us.”
“Maryland has a great pitching staff, so we knew we needed a couple of runs early,” said Ramsey. “We are playing great, we are really starting to hit our stride, the weather is warming up and we are feeling that post-season feel. It is really encouraging.”
