By the time No. 1 Florida States Monday-night contest with Maryland was two innings old, it appeared that the Seminoles and Terrapins would be following the usual script.
That is to say that FSU would stun the Terrapins with an early lead, then methodically grind out yet another victory over an ACC opponent.
But thanks to FSUs lackluster base-running, costly fielding errors and an offense that mostly went quiet after the second inning, Maryland avoided a sweep with an 8-5 victory at Dick Howser Stadium.
