In Memoriam
Lee Bowen, the longtime radio announcer of Florida State
baseball, passed away in his sleep at the age of 47 on July 16th, 2004.
In addition to his radio duties with baseball, Bowen was the Broadcast
Coordinator for Seminole Athletics Marketing. Lee is survived by his
wife, Adrienne.
Bowen served as the radio voice of Seminole baseball for
the past 15 years. He also served as the broadcast coordinator for
football and men's basketball on FSU's radio network. Prior to his
arrival at Florida State, Bowen called play-by-play for the Burlington
(NC) Indians of the Appalachian League.
He developed his love for baseball by listening to the legendary Bob
Prince calling Pittsburgh Pirates games while growing up in Altoona,
Pennsylvania. His broadcasting career began while he was still a
teenager in 1971.
In honor of Lee and his contributions to broadcasting
and to Seminole Baseball, the Animals of Section B dedicate this year's
songbook in his memory.
Lee, you will be missed!
